Twin Cities Record Show Popup at Midtown Global Market, Minneapolis

The Twin Cities Record Show will be popping up at Midtown Global Market on Saturday, April 27 from noon-4 PM, which is located at 920 East Lake Street.

The first two installments of the show were so much fun that we're excited to present the third installment.

We'll be in the center of the food court and have a great grouping of record vendors offering old-school hip hop 12", 80s music, jazz, funk, soul, local music, R&B and whatever else we find in the music archive.

There's 30 vendors to enjoy food from to keep you fueled up for vinyl digging.

Admission is free. Parking is available in the ramp across the street for $1.75 an hour. Ramp parking is located off of Lake Street and 10th Ave.

Saturday Sounds with DJ D.I.M.E

Saturday Sounds with DJ D.I.M.E

Music has always been a great passion in DJ D.I.M.E.’s life and she felt the need to share that passion with others.  In her early years she performed as a break-dancer, then went on to writing and producing, and eventually into being a well-known underground Hip-Hop recording artist by the name of “Protegee”.  During her days as a rap artist her career also took her into the modeling realm in which she has been the face of and/or have worked with many well-known companies, agencies and photographers.

By 2012, DJ D.I.M.E. had found a true love and passion for DJing, in which she began by attending the celebrated ‘Scratch DJ Academy’ in Manhattan, NY.  DJ D.I.M.E. is indeed living up to her self- proclaimed acronym “Doing It Myself Everyday” (D.I.M.E.) by showcasing her diverse repertoire of sets and styles, from House, Lounge, Trap, Hip-Hop, and R&B (while dabbling in Jazz and Reggae), her style gives the crowd some of what they love, some of what they used to love, and some of what they should love.

Armed with the skills of a mixologist, creativity, a history of the music industry and the passion for music in general, DJ D.I.M.E. combines those talents to separate herself from any other DJ.

“Growing up in the 80s, I think influenced me the most musically because every artist was hot back then, it wasn’t about genres it was about “can you make me dance”, “is this record original and different from other artists”.  Everyone had their own style/sound and contributed equally to the game by bringing true individuality to great music.   My mission is to bring that back to the forefront … the originality to music”, proclaims D.I.M.E

Currently a part of the world renowned Fleet DJs, and featured DJ of the 'DIME Show' exclusively on Fleet DJ Radio.

Grand Opening! Celebrate CyNyChi Hair Care at Midtown Global Market

Midtown Global Market is excited to celebrate its newest entrepreneur and business, CyNyChi Hair Car, during a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration on Friday, March 8 at noon. Please note- the salon will be open from 10am-6pm.

Owner Emmatine Ukwuoma is a licensed cosmetologist, experienced natural hair culturist, and entrepreneur for 23 years. Her passion for healthy hair led to the opening of her first salon in Michigan called Styles of Afrika. In 2021, Ukwuoma relocated to Minnesota and opened CyNyChi Natural Hair Care, a salon specializing in all phases of natural healthy hair care, in Brooklyn Park. Now, she’s moved her business inside Midtown Global Market.

Ukwuoma’s goal is to empower black women to normalize using high-quality natural ingredients on their hair. She’s launched her own all-natural, plant-based hair care line targeting damaged hair. Bato Bato! Breck School Marimba band

Join us Friday, Feb 9 for BATO BATO! They will perform on stage from 5:30pm-6:30pm.

BATO BATO is back! BATO BATO consists of high school students, marimbas, and a plethora of percussion. The name is Swahili for "dancing place"- and that's just what they do! Although their style is deeply rooted in Latin rhythms and the Shona music of Zimbabwe, they also love to play marimbafied renditions of their favorite pop, alternative, rock, rap, and soul songs. Due to the nature of high school, members come and go, but BATO BATO! is continually turning over, learning each other's parts, and crafting new songs.

Since 2009, BATO BATO! has enjoyed playing routinely at venues like Orchestra Hall, The Cedar Cultural Center, the Midtown Global Market, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and the Minnesota State Fair, opening for international acts like Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Sierra Leone's Refugee All-Stars, and the Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni ba. However, they also have a deep commitment to helping out and enlivening the Twin Cities. By organizing benefit concerts, providing entertainment for charity events, and performing at schools and shelters, BATO BATO! gives what they can.
