Youth Art Exhibition: Murals, Bikes & Community

Please join us for a free Youth Art Exhibition at the Midtown Global Market, October 24 - 25.

We're pleased to have received support from The Metropolitan Regional Arts Council to bring local youth down to visit our Greenway murals and meet the artists.

This past summer and fall, youth from Andersen United Middle School, Little Earth of United Tribes, Banyan Community, and other youth-serving organizations have been visiting the murals and meeting with the local artists who painted them, including Constanza Carballo, Geno Okok, and Cadex Herrera.

We are also very pleased to have local artist Elissa Cedarleaf Dahl leading tours and art activities to a Greenway mural painted by local artist and educator Melodee Strong. Melodee passed away earlier this year after a courageous battle with cancer. We so appreciate her friend and fellow muralist Elissa stepping in to share Melodee's wonderful legacy of public art with the youth attending the mural visits.

The youth have also been creating artwork with the muralists, which will be on display at the Midtown Global Market on the weekend of October 24 - 25.

Thanks to all of the artists, educators, nonprofit partners, and others who have supported this project. Special thanks to Constanza Carballo for coordinating the project.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
