Saturday Sounds featuring John Penny!
Inspired by a variety of Jazz instrumentalists and Classical solo repertoires, guitarist and composer John Penny taught himself to play the guitar. Learning by listening to a variety of music genres led to an improvisational style built on techniques from violin concertos, Jazz saxophonists, Flamenco guitarists, and more. His study of great Classical and Folk composers from across the globe gave him a sense of limitless possibilities for composing music. From his teenage experience playing in R&B and Rock bands, he developed an appetite for strong rhythms. Merging acquired techniques with his own DNA, experimentation, and development resulted in something that is eclectic and divergent, yet mindful of music history.
